Formed in early 2004, Cursed As Angels are a 5 piece “Epic Metal” outfit from Gravesend, Kent. A town that is fast becoming a strong home for British Metal and Hardcore Acts.

Our Sound: The sound and style has been developed over time, which is a mix of heavy powerful verse's and big melodic chorus's. The style of our layered guitars give a likeness to Paradise Lost and the mix of heavy and melodic vocals and the overall mood of the songs giving a comparison to bands such as Deftones, God Forbid, Underoath and 36 Crazyfists. Ideally we would love all the keyboard sections to be done with a full orchestra and choir to give us more of an ‘Epic’ sound and power, or just a better more expensive keyboard.

Influences: The Cure, Doves, Machine Head, In Flames, Unearth, Paradise Lost, Sisters Of Mercy, Deftones, 36 Crazyfists, My Dying Bride, Anathema and Killswitch Engage.

The Music: Our music is a mix of Metal and Hardcore styles. The subject matter range from personal life experiences, love of Horror and Sci-Fi movies, through to less serious subjects like Porn films. The music usually comes first, then the lyrics. The writing process is a relaxed affair, like most bands, songs can come out of nothing, a riff jammed out in rehearsal’s can become the backbone of a song.

The Name?: After many different band names, such as ’We Are The Dead’, ’Drain The Lake’ and ’My Life’s Fury’, the name Cursed As Angels was agreed on. The name came about after all the set backs the band had over a period of a year and a half. The band would always relate to any bad luck, as 'The Curse.' So it was agreed that the word ‘curse’ or ’cursed’ would be included in the name. Omen came up with the idea ‘Cursed As Angels’ after watching the film ‘Dogma’ starring Matt Damon, where the two main characters are angels that are stuck on earth. But as angels they are not aloud to drink alcohol and do not have penis‘s. A curse I think you will agree?
